Do not have enough time to download the combined upgrade file. Is there
individual files somewhere that can be downloaded?

i tried to do that, but i only came up with 10.3.5 update. i'm afraid the only option is the combined update (as far as i know)

Yes, if you search the Apple support site, you'll find individual updaters for each x.x.y update.
How does that actually save you any time, though? It seems to me that the 10.3.9 combined updater is the smarter way to go.
Are you on dailup with limited connection reliability or something?
Peace,
Drew

If you were on dialup, someone (such as myself) on these forums may be willing to burn the combo update on a CD and mail it out to you.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am on dial-up. Will try hunting for the
updates first.

A person can use dial-up to download big files. Just push pause button
and log off. Next time you log on, use software update and click on file and it will continue downloading. Did this five times to download a combined 10.3.9 update.

I did wonder if it would do something like that, but didn't like to say anything in case I got accused of saying Windows is better than Mac!

(if it turned out that actually Mac OS can't do this) - when you use Windows Update or Automatic Updates to download updates, they're downloaded using only idle bandwidth, and if you disconnect before they've finished downloading then they will resume from where they left off when you're next connected (or next time you run Windows Update if you don't have automatic updating enabled), without you having to do anything or tell it to pause/resume the downloading (if you use Automatic Updates then all this happens without you even being aware of it).

I had a problem with Leopard recently where I tried to update from 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 using the combined update and it failed repeatedly. I had to search for the 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 standalone updates and do it that way. Imagine my horror when I had to do it again on another machine and saw it had the original 10.5 on it. Fortunately the 10.5.6 combo update worked and I was then able to go to 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 as before. The only other times I did OS X updates was bringing my snow G3 iMac up to 10.2.8 from an older version and updating my Digital Audio from the 10.4.5 Tiger it came with to 10.4.11 as each update was released.
