[s]Okay, so I know it's not a PPC, but[/s] The 601 makes it a PPC, and in the absence of our allies at the
other MLA, I thought folks here might like to have a look.
If the TEMPEST tag means
what I think it does, this is ex military or intelligence.

Neat as it is, it seems to me to be nothing more than a Centris 610 (note the 20 MHz designation on themotherboard) with a PowerPC upgrade in the PDS. Nothing special (unless, of course, the PPC upgrade is the prototype part).
Peace,
Drew

I love that formfactor of machines.

It almost looks like the only real special thing about it is the enclosure and it's lack of labeling - And $799 is pretty extreme.

Wow. I wonder who paid $799 for that.
The seller is probably laughing all the way to the bank.
Peace,
Drew

Check out TEMPEST on Wikipedia if you are really interested. A Quadra of any variety (TEMPEST or otherwise) would be pretty useless to the military in the modern era.
Peace,
Drew

When I was in the Navy we had a few Tempest machines. Nothing really too special about them except that they were Tempest machines.
The e-bay link now goes to an invalid item.

I remember that listing. I threw a bid at it early but I never expected it to be the winner. $799 was way too much for a 660AV, even a proto.
