Weird Dual Display "Feature"

Forum IndexMac OS X

Here's an odd one.

When I awaken my displays after a prolonged period of non-use (the screen saver has long since activated, and Energy Saver turned off the displays), I'm presented with the familiar password challenge.

The unusual part is that I have two pointers!

One appears along the edge of the display that isn't the main display, and the other is on the main screen with the login prompt. It's definitely a bug, and the pointer on the other screen doesn't move when I move the mouse. Only the pointer on the main screen moves. As soon as I move the pointer from the main screen to the other screen, the pointer on the other screen jumps and the two pointers become one right where you would expect it to be.

Odd, eh?

Peace,
Drew
I've noticed that too when the displays go to sleep. A mysterious pointer appears on the edge of the second screen. It's rather odd, but more funny than annoying to me Razz

seems to be normal. it does this on my g4, too.
My iBook and MacBook do it, And when you move the "live" cursor over say, a text field so it changes to an I-beam, the dead one changes too.

Does anybody here use Desktop Manager? It's a really handy app to give you multiple desktops in OS X. Anyway, I've found that when you switch from a desktop with an open app to an empty one, and you move the mouse around a bit, the cursor changes just as if it were moving over the window. It's pretty neat seeing hyperlinks appear out of nowhere Razz
