Hello everyone... glad to be here.

I just dusted the cobwebs off of my power book lombard after looking at setting up a simple system for my son to type up papers at school, now that he just got his first writing assignment/project (2nd grade- age 7) Anyhow.. I ended up missing it so much that I scrapped that idea and just gave him a spare G4 mini that I was using as a,hehe, a glorified printer server at this point.

Anyhow - I just got my pcmcia wifi card installed after searching for the driver. Threw on OS9 (maybe I will put on OX10.2 or something again- but probably not) I have installed Audion and loving it..streaming my fav. internet radio stations and mp3's (iTunes be damned IMHO). I just installed icab as well as a telnet client for checking out BBS's

I need to locate a new battery for it and maybe find a cdr drive that will make it cd-r read-friendly. Perhaps add some more RAM and a bigger HD down the road.

Even though I have an intel iMac and ibook G4, I also have a couple of Lombards in regular rotation. I once took one on a trip halfway around the world, only a couple of years ago. Took the beating, used the wifi card, surfed the wifi cafe, surfed the airports, played the games, all on OS 9, and weighed a TON. (Well, it seemed that way!) But next trip it will be the iBook G4, that's what I got it for.

You really didn't want to give one of those to a 2nd grader to drop on the floor, did you? Naw, I didn't think so!

I am sure it was a great trip. I think the fact that I have had the Lombard for so many years says something about how well it was made.. or at least, if something should go wrong its fairly easy to work with and fix.

I must be honest though - I was a little concerned about my son dropping it and god knows what.

i bought a lombard for 50SEK some weekends ago and installed Mac OS X 10.2.8 on it only thing i need now is a wlan card for it, it works great for irc / surfing and stuff
