A few months ago I got an iMac G5 w/ box and everything for $20 at a yardsale. It had a Dead PSU. I spent a few hours last night and until about 1:00 this afternoon trying to get it to work with a hacked atx. Finally i had sucess!!! it is now working fine w/ a fresh instal of leopard, and i will be updating the software for a little while. i have a feeling that i will see a major diffrence between this 2ghz iMac and my 1.25ghz emac and dual 1.25ghz MDD.
IT LIVES
Oh!
Congrats with ATX conversion. Can you show pins conversion scheme and general electric requirements for pins like voltage and ampers?

For the pins conversion scheme I used these:

The only confusing thing about the iMac diagram is that the "blue" wire is really gray, and the real blue wire is -12VDC, and not used.
The +24VDC is not needed on the 17" iMac G5s, and I have not figured out what it is supposed to do.
I think the general electric requirements are listed in the above links.

+24VDC Actually used for Apple Cinema Displays in Tower Macs. And for FireWire.

Hmmm... I wonder, for what this +24V if ADC doesn't present on iMacs...

24v is for bus power for FireWire devices. FireWire may appear to work without 24v, but I'll bet that drives that don't have their own power supplies won't work.

Power to the PowerPC!
OK, that explains it, I was using an eMac in Target Disk Mode
This is a great resource! Congrats on the conversion process. Do you have any pictures available yet to show of the converted iMac G5?
