within the past two weeks it have found/recieved:

-MDD dual 1.25ghz, 80gb (FW 800), soo going to take the place of my eMac as my main desktop
- A fully-working and good looking hooper, cobbled together from 2 that i got (thanks J English Smith ) it is running os 9.1 SILENTLY from a 512mb CF card in the upper pc card slot
- beige g3 mini tower, have not been able to play with, not allowed inside my house b/c it smells like cigaret smoke
- powermac 7600/120, same as above, will probably be stripped for parts

thats all my PPC finds for now !

P.S. any tips on how to get the smell of cigaret smoke out of the old macs?

also, can i wash the imac g3 type keyboards/puck mice in the dishwasher w/ only water, and will that do anything about the cigaret smell?

Get a few cans of compressed air and remove as much of the particulate as you possibly can. After that it just requires a lot of time with alcohol and various ways (cloth/paper towels, Q-tips, magic erasers, etc.) to apply it in order lift away the remaining tobacco-stuff. The places with the air circulation are what you want to pay the most attention to, because even a little bit of that stuff left in the path air takes inside can be really foul. I have no experience with motherboard washing, but that might be something to consider if it's just caked in there.

I'm not sure how you would get all of the moisture out of the keyboard if you washed it without disassembly. Try a magic eraser and alcohol, being careful to let all of the gunk drain down and out before resorting to the dishwasher.
