powerbook g4

Forum IndexMac OS X

hi all,

you might have seen my earlier post at 68kmla about g5's, g4's and my (ex-)macbook. i got a powerbook 15" 1.5 ghz and i think i can settle with it for a while. the strange thing is that although it runs tiger quite well, it hates leopard. i cannot figure out why. it has 1.5 gigs of ram, a decent cpu etc.

but the most weird thing is that on my 867 mhz quicksilver g4 (1.5 g ram) lepard runs wonderfully. much better than tiger. what can possibly the problem? i thought it might be that the quicksilver has l3 cache, but i am not sure.

i do need leopard, and not for the eyecandy, but for its better airport drivers (wifi under 10.4.11 has worse ranges than bluetooth) and overall better networking (in tiger i have to log out and in to see a new client on the local network and if i change from airport to lan it just refuses to open the network 'folder' until restart.

anyone has any ideas?

thanks

I have 10.5.8 installed on two 1.67ghz machines and they run with no problems. They came pre-loaded with Leopard, though, so I don't know what installing is like. One originally came with 10.5 and the other with 10.5.6 and I did have a few problems with automatic update where I had to download the standalone updaters to get them up to 10.5.8.
